Run-out forecast and low alerts
The run-out date, the low alert, and what happens when a size reaches zero.
When it runs out
Carboy works out each pool's pace from its last 28 days: what sold, minus what came back through restocked refunds and cancellations. It needs at least 3 sales in that window; until then the Pools page says Needs a few sales. A pool younger than 28 days is measured over the days it has existed.
Days left = (pool − reserve) ÷ amount used per day.
126 ml sold in the last 28 days is 4.5 ml a day. With 41 ml in the pool and no reserve, that's about 9 days. On October 2 the pool's page would say: “At the last 4 weeks' pace (4.5 ml a day) this runs out in about 9 days, around Oct 11.”
Run-out times read as today, in 1 day, in about 9 days, in about 3 weeks, or in 2+ months. Pools that run out within 14 days are marked on the Pools page and listed under Running out soon in the daily email.
When a pool is low
A pool is low when its smallest size has fewer than 3 left to sell, after the reserve. The Pools page shows it as Low, and the daily email lists it under Running low.
To be warned at your own level instead, open the pool and enter an amount under Low alert, for example 20 ml. The pool is then low at or below that amount. Leave the field empty to go back to the rule above.
Sizes of 2, 5 and 10 ml, 3 ml in reserve and 8 ml in the pool: 5 ml is sellable, which is two of the 2 ml size, so the pool is low.
To get an email the moment it happens, tick Email right away when a pool hits its alert in Settings. You get one email each time a pool drops to low; it resets once you refill.
When a size reaches zero
When what's sellable is less than a size, that size shows 0 in Shopify and sells out there, while smaller sizes keep selling. The reserve stays in the pool for spills and testing.
The pool itself never goes below zero. If an order takes more than is left, the pool stops at 0 and the sale is marked oversold. That can happen when two orders land together, or when a variant has Continue selling when out of stock turned on in Shopify.
Refilling
When a new bottle or sack arrives, use Receive stock on the pool. Every size is worked out again and written to Shopify, the low status clears, and the instant alert is ready for the next drop.
